In other words, how to stay strong in your own energy while really connecting to and honing in on your spiritual gifts. In today's conversation, we explore the tools and techniques that we can use to heighten those gifts while protecting our energy from the things that will not serve us Along the way. We talk about the difference between energetic first aid, or what you may know as psychic protection, energetic maintenance and energetic hygiene, giving you tangible tools and techniques each step of the way that you can integrate into your daily life. Speaker 1:I'm here with Chantel and today we're diving into psychic protection and energetic hygiene, and in the title we talk about how this can be for empaths and people who are and you know, in the title we talk about the how this can be for empaths and people who are really sensitive to energy. But really psychic protection and energetic hygiene should be for everyone. We all need to be in the process of keeping up with our energetic bodies, just the same way that we keep up with our physical bodies and with our mental health and all of this. Our energetic health is just as, if not more, important, because it is the backbone, it's the baseline for everything. Our energy is what's giving this physical 3D reality its blueprint, and so if we're feeling sluggish, if we're feeling anxious, if we have physical health issues this was something that we recently taught a workshop on here in Houston, where I'm recording this podcast today from Christine, and I taught chakra, metaphysical anatomy and physiology and it was really looking at how all of our physical symptoms, all of our emotional symptoms, all of our mental health symptoms can always come back to. Where did it start in your energetic field? Which chakra is being impacted? Where is your energy not flowing? And so, when we're having this conversation and bringing it in, absolutely, if you're an empath, this is really really key for you and if you're just a human being walking on this earth, knowing that you are a spiritual being, having this human experience, this energetic hygiene ritual is going to be so important. And so, as we talk today, we're going to go over the difference between what is energetic hygiene and what is psychic protection, because they are two slightly different things and one is definitely more of our maintenance. Like, we're going to be maintaining our energetic health just the same way that you know, we brush our teeth every day, we shower a couple of times a week, that kind of thing. But then we're also going to have moments where we need that psychic protection, we need a little bit extra for our energetic field, and so we're going to go over that difference today, as well as diving into what are some tools and techniques that you can do to help with this process to use in these cases. And so I'd love to just start us off with a quick intro to why we even need protection.
Speaker 1:Right, I think a lot of Reiki practitioners especially come into this work feeling like, well, we're walking in the love and light, we're connected with Reiki energy. That's all we need. We just need this love and light energy, and absolutely that is one aspect of what we do. But from a shamanic perspective, we know that we live in a universe that is a balance and an interplay between the light and the dark, right, so light casts a shadow. There's two sides to every coin. Whatever metaphor or analogy you want to use here.
Speaker 1:We know that we live in a world of duality there's physical and there's non-physical right, there's black and there's non-physical right, there's black and there's white, et cetera where all of this light, all of this love is absolutely present and very tangible. But we also have these shadow sides, right, and we can think of this in ourselves. Right, we have the parts of ourselves that we love, or maybe that we even just accept, and then we have the parts of ourselves that maybe we don't accept as much and we kind of push to the side and we call that our shadow self, because this is a natural effect of being here in 3D reality, where we do live in a world of duality, and so we can think of this as a spectrum of energy, right as a spectrum of frequencies. We know that we have this in music. We have that scale of different frequencies and our energy is the same way.
Speaker 1:There are some energies that are denser and heavier and there are some energies that are a lot lighter and more ethereal, where we're connected to time and we're connected to space and we have this ability to feel the process of living life, feel the process of healing, feel the contrast of our triggers and those moments that we're healing, this balance between the two, and so we get to feel all of that. We have those days where we feel heavier and maybe denser energy, and then we have those days where we're flying on cloud nine, and what I would love to bring into this conversation is that there's nothing wrong with either of them. Like that's our very first step when it comes to our energetic hygiene and psychic protection is taking off the blame and the guilt and the shame around, quote unquote, negative experiences and things, especially when we're looking at our emotions. I think, for those of us that are really sensitive to energy one way or another, if we take someone else's emotion on as our own or we get caught up in our own life stuff and we find ourselves stuck in the anxiety or the sadness or the anger or whatever it is, we instantly start beating up on ourselves of why did I do that? Why did I take this on? I should be vibing higher. I should know better. I'm a Reiki practitioner or a spiritual practitioner, whatever it is. I should be doing better than this. And we start shooting on ourselves. I should be doing better than what I'm doing right now and all that's going to do is pull that energy thinner and thinner and thinner. It's just going to accentuate that weakness in our energetic field.
Speaker 1:Because when we're having these limiting beliefs, when we're having these negative experiences, we're causing a fluctuation in our energy. Right, we know the difference between when we're anxious, our energy isn't flowing as well as when we're peaceful or when we're joyful or when we're excited about something. And this is again not to say that one is bad and the other is good. We want to just look at them as these are states of our being. They are lessons. There are lessons available to us in each state when we are anxious or not having that flow in our energy field.
Speaker 1:There's something for us to learn about ourselves here, and so when we can start by taking away the blame, when we can start by taking off the extra weight of beating up on ourselves for these emotions, it opens up the space to actually work with them and process that energy rather than keeping us stuck in it. Because if we're focused on oh, I'm feeling this way and I shouldn't, we're focusing on the fact that that's what we're feeling. We're not focusing on the fact that we could be feeling better. We're not focusing on the fact that healing is available. We're not focusing on the potential for transformation. We're focusing on what's stuck and what's a problem.
Speaker 1:And so this is going to be our baseline for this conversation is really understanding that there's no blame here, there's no fault. It is really understanding that there's no blame here, there's no fault. It's not that we're doing something bad or wrong if we experience the heavier side of the spectrum. It's part of human life. The question we want to start asking is how can we bring balance back into our energy when we feel these heavier things, when we're in a stuck place with our energy? Do we have the tools, techniques and awareness to be able to process those and transmute them so that we can pull out the lesson and come back to our baseline, come back to our state of connection and alignment and flow?
Speaker 2:And that's really where we want to take today's conversation for our energetic hygiene and psychic protection yeah, I think it's really um, being mindful of where we're at, like, what you're talking about is recognizing the spectrum of the light and the shadow, as we do walk a lot of times in the shadow. We have to recognize that in our um, within our presence, within our world and everything that we're experiencing. But it is knowing that we can protect ourselves by keeping ourselves mindful mindful of what we're doing, what we're watching, what we're reading, what we're how we're thinking, the conversations that we're having. Everything has an impact on us, and so when we are hanging out with people that are quote unquote like low vibing, you know they, that has an impact on our work field, it has an impact on our energy field and our state of mind, and so we recognize that when you leave a conversation and if you're feeling drained, if you're feeling not yourself, why is that? Is it the conversation that you had that made you feel like your energy is being depleted? Is it the person that you're interacting with that is helping you to feel like that as well?
Speaker 2:Because some people, you know, we call them energy vampires, energy suckers, and that's a true state, because if somebody is not feeling whole in themselves, they are going to be siphoning energy and utilizing the energy around them, and so if you're coming in all high and light and vibing and then this other person is not, yeah, they can potentially take that energy from you. And so it's important for us to wrap ourselves up in those bubbles of light, to really be aware of our consciousness, our space and everything, knowing that our auric fields are six feet apart right, the average is about six feet. So anytime we are six feet in somebody else's space, we are merging our energy bodies together, and so that means I'm sharing my energy with you, you're sharing your energy with me, and if we are easily attaching other energies to ourself, then, yeah, we can start feeling low energy, feel tired, feel depleted, feel like, oh, I need to go home and take a nap, or I need to go home and and recharge when, prior to that conversation or whatever, you're feeling great. So it's really just having that awareness of where we are with people and situations. Even you know, it's interesting.
Speaker 2:I was scrolling through I don't know social media or whatever, and I received this spiritual download and it's like, you know, you receive attachments from the comments that you're reading, you know, and it's like having this awareness that even what we're reading and the comments of others. We are having that energetic attachment because, let's just be honest, like a lot of people are really negative in feeding the like, the feedback and everything right, and so the comments and everything, and when you're, when you're looking for that, that gossip or whatever it is, it can have an impact on your, your, um, etheric body, and so it is important to just recognize those things and to know that the way we think about ourselves, that also, like you're talking about the shoulds, like when we're shitting on ourselves, it means that we are not standing in our confidence, we're not standing in our highest vibration of self, and so you know it's knowing where we are and recognizing in our own energy field how we're showing up. So you always know, when you walk in a room, how that room feels. Does it feel low, does it feel high?
Speaker 2:Or somebody who walks in and their presence is just seen and felt, it's because they're vibing at a very high frequency of energy, and so, or versus the other that comes in and suddenly the whole room shifts and it feels negative, right? So it's not so much that that person is negative, it's just that they are vibing at a frequency that is more lower and dense, and maybe they had a bad day or they're dealing with some low emotions and stuff. But when we are walking in the energy of others, we just have to recognize that it's important for us to protect our own energy. Like we would lock our house up, like you lock your car up, like you take care of your valuables, right, we need to value ourself in the same way and protect our own energy field the same as we would those things that we protect and that we find dear to ourself.
Speaker 1:Absolutely, and there's an element to it, there too, of understanding that there is so much, like you were saying, that impacts our energy, that impacts us. I think a lot of times we think that it's our thoughts and emotions and other people's thoughts and emotions and those are the only things that are impacting us. But you're right, the things that we read, the media, that we watch, the music that we listen to, the planetary alignments, what's happening in mass consciousness, if we have a negative energy or entity attachment, if we have an imbalanced chakra, right, all of these things can impact and do impact our energy Because, again, we live in, even though we're in this physical 3D reality, everything, everything in this physical reality, has an energetic blueprint, an energetic foundation, and this is where you know, in Reiki we see that idea that Reiki is in all things. In shamanism we see this through the lens of animism, that everything has spirit and energy, and so we know that anytime we're interacting with anything, it's going to be impacting our energy. The chair that you're sitting on right now has its own energetic signature. Who sat there before? What emotions were they feeling when they sat down? What room is it in and what's happened in that room? What energy has that chair collected? We can all really relate to this one, I think, with clothing, right, if you go thrifting and you get a piece of used clothing, a lot of times you'll pick up a piece of clothing and it'll be like, oh, I love this piece, but it's not for me, because it has a weird energy to it, because it's picking up the energy of its previous owner. So everything in this world has energy. Everything that we interact with whether it's a conscious interaction, like listening to this conversation, or it's a little bit of that subconscious scrolling through social media and looking at the comments Everything we interact with is going to impact our energy.
Speaker 1:And what's so important to understand about this and something that we were talking about in the workshops is understanding the difference between an emotion and an experience. Because a lot of times what happens is we might be trying to quote unquote vibe higher right, we might be doing all of our positive affirmations, we might be practicing positive thinking, we might be trying on that surface level to keep things really light, but then inside we're feeling like crap. Right, we still feel off, we still feel sluggish, we still feel drained, and we're sitting here wondering what am I doing wrong Right, I'm doing the Reiki, I'm doing the affirmations, I'm doing the things. Why isn't it helping? Why am I still pulling in other people's emotions? Why do I still feel tired all the time? All of these questions, and this is where we get to come to understanding what's happening in your energy, not just what's happening in your mind.
Speaker 1:And so this is where I like to bring in this idea of emotion versus experience, because, from a psychological perspective, our emotions are the combination of our thoughts, so whatever's happening in your head, consciously or unconsciously, and the physical response that you have to that thought, so does it make your heart rate, does it make your blood pressure go up, does it make your left arm tingle, and how does your brain then interpret that physical sensation? This is why a lot of people who get really excited about something often feel like they're anxious, because it's the same physical symptoms and often the same thoughts of like oh, this thing is coming up and the brain interprets that as anxiety, where you can rewire it to say, no, I'm just excited, because that's what an emotion is. It's this combination of our thought and our physical response to it, whereas an experience and you can choose a different word for this. We're going to go with experience for now. But an experience is what is happening in your energy, what is your energy feeling in that moment. So you can be doing all of these positive affirmations, you can be connecting with Reiki energy, you can be meditating on that thought level and bringing in these thoughts.
Speaker 1:But if, in the background, every time you say I am lovable or I am safe or I am protected or whatever it is for you, your energy is going well, that's a load of crap. I'm not safe, I'm not protected. If you don't have that energetic state of being protected or being safe or being peaceful or whatever it is for you, those thoughts and those affirmations aren't going to do anything, because it's just happening on the thought level, not on the energetic or soul level. And so this is where understanding that flow, that it goes from our energy to our thoughts and our emotions to our physical body. There's a pattern there and we can see that if that's the flow, if everything starts in our energy and ends in our mind, then just trying to do these affirmations in our mind or just trying to think the right way or make the right choices is only going to have a minimal impact compared to what could happen if we focused on shifting our energy first.
Speaker 1:And so this is why, you know, when we talk about vibing higher and things like this, that idea of always having positive energy can be a little bit of spiritual bypassing, because we're trying to ignore or skip over, not consciously. Right, there's no blame here. We're not doing this because we failed or we're bad people. This is just human nature to want to avoid the shadow, to avoid the darkness and to just stay in the love and light. But when we do that, we're creating this thought world that might be really positive, but your experience, your energy, is still saying that you're not safe, that you're not protected.
Speaker 1:And so this is where things like our limiting beliefs come into play, because if we truly believe that we're not enough, that we're not safe, that we don't deserve to stay in our own energy, that we're only worthy if we're taking on other people's emotions so that we can help them, if we have these beliefs about how our energy needs to be functioning and how we fit into the world, that's what our energy is going to be holding onto, that's what we're going to be putting out to the world and calling back and attracting, and so when we're in that state, we're really again looking at your thoughts, are amazing. Learning how to be kind with your thoughts, how to do the positive affirmation, how to do all this is an amazing step and it's an important component. But when we're talking about actually creating these energetic boundaries for yourself, being able to let other people's emotions be their emotions, being able to go out into a crowded room and not take on everybody's energy as your own, or to have a really long day and not come back to the house completely drained, at the end, it's really going to be looking at what's happening in our energy, what's going on in our energy that's allowing these things to come in. And so there's a bit of this radical responsibility that has to happen in these cases of recognizing that, let's say that you're a caregiver for your mom and she's really struggling. She's in a really difficult place physically and mentally, and you find yourself in that space with her every day and you start taking on her emotions and taking on maybe even some of her physical health issues, and you just constantly feel drained. By sitting with her and caring for her, you are worthy to create an energetic boundary. You don't have to take on what's hers. You can still be present and helpful and a good caregiver, even if you're standing firm in your energy, and so this is an invitation to really get curious with yourself.
Speaker 1:Of where do you find yourself most often feeling out of alignment energetically? What situations do you typically find yourself? Pulling other people's emotions into your own or being impacted energetically by what's happening in the world? What's your energetic weak point? We all have an area or two that probably instantly comes to mind, like I have maybe. As an example, I have no energetic boundaries with my family, or anytime I go into work, I immediately take on my coworker's energy or whatever it is for you. Or when I watch the news right and thinking about do you have any kind of beliefs about what that experience means about you?
Speaker 1:And what I mean by this is, a lot of times, people who are energetically sensitive or especially empaths develop a little bit of a belief about themselves that they are only worthy if they're feeling other people's energy, that their ability to read others is what keeps them safe, and a lot of times this comes from our childhood experiences where, if we're in that stress state, if we're in a state of fight or flight. A lot of us in the spiritual community. Our go-to state, in our sympathetic, stressed nervous system state, is fawn, and fawn is where we are letting go of all sense of self and focusing on everybody else. So this is also called mend intent, so where we're trying to make sure that everybody else is okay so that we can avoid what's happening in ourselves. And oftentimes this can add into our empathic abilities or ability to sense energy as adults. And so noticing for yourself, knowing that this isn't an always thing, this is just an interesting thing to be aware of in yourself of.
Speaker 1:Do you have a belief about yourself that you have to be able to read other people's energy in order to be safe, that you're only worthy if you're taking care of everybody else, that your energy is less valuable than other people's energy?
Speaker 1:Because those kinds of beliefs are going to prohibit any of the tools and techniques that we're going to talk about from actually helping. Because, once again, what's most important isn't what are you thinking, what are you doing on a surface level, but what is your energy saying? What is your energy replying back to the world? And if you don't feel safe, if you don't believe that you're safe, if you don't believe that you're worthy to be protected if you don't truly know like you know, like you know that your energy is untouchable. It doesn't matter how many of these tools and techniques you use, you're still going to be energetically open and available, because what your belief is saying is I'm not worthy to have these energetic boundaries, I'm not worthy to stay true, I'm not safe unless I'm feeling into everybody else, and so this is a really important place to start with. This work is really looking at what are your beliefs saying about your state of energetic worth and safety and it's coming to the point now of, um, and how do you do that right?
Speaker 2:so I think a lot of us can say, yes, we've been there, we have taken on somebody else's energy.
Speaker 2:We've taken on somebody else's like physical ailments, you know, so to speak. Maybe we're not, you know, feeling, we don't have the diagnosis that somebody else has, but we might feel, feel that sympathetic response to their illness or whatever. But going to, as like Reiki practitioners, when we are working with other people's energy, we very much can become the transmuter of energy. And so I find that to be a little bit different too, because one I feel that for myself is I transmute a lot of energy, but I don't claim it as my own, I just know it's something I'm processing. But when I do work with certain people and have worked with people, it's like you can feel where their energy line is and whether you, if it's heavy or not, and so I think that gets important for us as practitioners that are going into our offices and we're working with people, being able to protect ourselves with that, and that is a lot of times it's communicating to our space, right, it's calling in our directions, it's calling in our protector, our spiritual team. It's smudging our space, it's having chimes and bells and different elements that are going to help to break the vibration and to raise the vibration up, and so, but it's also having that awareness, like you're talking about, with ourself of is this my energy, that I am feeling? And if it's not, we do need to be able to clear that out. And it, you know, it's almost like seeing like a whiteboard and just wiping it away. What is it that I want to hold on to and what is it I want to release. And it is okay to say I'm ready to release that. That is not mine, I'm not going to carry it, I'm not going to own it, I'm going to be the observer of it, the witness of it, versus I'm going to be the one that's going to sit here and own all of your stuff, because then you're stepping in that rescuer position of I have to go out there and save everyone, and then really that's more of an ego based, you know, trait than it is being of a healer.
Speaker 2:And so I think that for us it's really coming to the sense, and the understanding too, is that when we are coming forward and connecting with these energies that have are having an impact on us, then it is why is that happening?
Speaker 2:And then being able to address the conversation with the person too, because sometimes they just need to have like a verbal response or a verbal purging to understand why they're feeling the way they're feeling, and a lot of times it's just that simple awareness Well, I'm feeling like this because of this blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Speaker 2:And then the moment they recognize it, they're like oh, then they themselves can release that, and so we are able to be in the position, um, really expanding our energy, our social awareness, our conscious awareness of self and what it is that we're bringing forward to all of our clients and to our families and everyone we're interacting with, because when we have, like um, dealing with certain situations, it really can have an impact on our physical, our physical body, our emotional body, everything. And so, um, yeah, just really having a clean slate when we wake up, when we um charge ourself, we set our intentions, we're connecting with our day, really can set forward a great intention for how our day is going to be, and that we're putting that protective energy around us. So, with every step we take, we know that we're standing in our own energy versus everybody else's around us.
Speaker 1:Absolutely, and you know, in that there's this really fascinating component to being an empath that you touched on that I would love to bring a little more awareness to, because I think so many of us whether we identify as an empath or just somebody who's highly sensitive to energy, right, a lot of times we walk around feeling like this gift is actually a burden, like we end up feeling like I wish I didn't have to do this, I wish I didn't have to feel that people's energy, this is so hard. I'm always taking on what's not mine, et cetera, et cetera. And there are two perspectives to this, maybe three. The first is that, yeah, absolutely taking on other people's energy is taxing. It's a lot to constantly be feeling everybody else, but when we can step into a place of empowerment, when we can realize that doesn't have to be the way that you use this gift and that's part of what we do here at Moon Rising is help teach people it's okay to have this gift. Let's actually make it feel like a gift instead of a burden. Let's teach you how to use this because, as empaths, not only do we have the ability to practice this psychic protection, to practice our energetic hygiene, which we'll get into a second of how do we do that. How exactly are we going to keep our energetic hygiene, which we'll get into a second of how do we do that? How exactly are we going to keep our energy clean and clear so that we can still do our healing work? We can still be powerful healers or lightworkers or even just present in our daily lives, but we don't have to take on that energy. It can stay separate. But we also, if we learn how to use it, empaths are powerful transmuters A lot of times because we can feel other people's energy, because we can feel that enmeshment in our energetic fields, we can take that energy and transmute it and process it and release it without taking it into ourselves.

We end up just taking on the energy and holding it in ourselves, and that was never, that's never going to be beneficial right To have somebody else's energy in your energy, and so if we can be mindful of the fact that within tension we can just be moving that energy through. We don't have to hold onto it. That can completely change the game, and so this can be as simple as whether you're in a Reiki session with someone or if you're just, you know, living your life and you're around your family and suddenly you feel yourself picking up someone else's emotions.
Speaker 1:The first step is always going to be when you start to feel your energy off. The first question is always is this my energy or is this someone else's? Doesn't matter what situation you're in If, all of a sudden, your energy switches and you start feeling off. That's the first question, because what this is going to do is you're going to know intuitively, as soon as you ask that question, you're going to have this awareness of is this my energy, something that's coming from and being generated by me? Is it an internal trigger that I need to look at, or is this something from somebody else that I've picked up? And if it's something from somebody else, or a different situation or a planet or whatever, it is something that wasn't yours, that you've pulled into your energy, then we go through the process of that energy. Is that energy? And my energy is mine, and finding what your phrase for this is being really intentional about.
Speaker 1:For me it's I reclaim all energy that is mine and mine alone, and I release everything that is not mine back to mother earth, back to source, whatever I feel like there. And so we have these three components in this affirmation of I'm reclaiming my energy. I'm calling back my power, my energy, anything that I've given away. I call it back so that I am whole and I release everything that's not mine. So, whether that's someone else's emotion or energy from mass consciousness or whatever it is, I release what is not mine. But you're not just going to release it into the room so it's just floating around the room with you. We're going to release it to mother earth so it can be transmuted and process. We're going to release it to source so that that energy can be healed, whatever we feel called to do. But we're going to release it purposefully and intentionally to our major helpers here, our major supporters in our energy, in mother earth and spirit source, god, universe, whatever you want to call that. And I encourage you guys to, even if all you get from this podcast is this technique of is this my energy or someone else's, and then I reclaim my energy and my energy alone. I release what's not mine to mother earth or to spirit for reuse, recycling and transmutation, and play with that phrase. Make it feel good to you so that it feels like you're really intending this, you're being intentional with your words, you're commanding this energetic release and reset. Try it in your own life and see what happens the next time you feel like you're taking something on.
Speaker 1:This is going to be our first step to what I like to call energetic first aid. So this is where we kind of have three levels of psychic protection and energetic hygiene. We have our energetic first aid, and these are times where you know, maybe we're in a session, maybe we're just walking around in a crowd at the mall, whatever it is, and suddenly our energy feels off for one reason or another. Something is going wrong in our energy and we need a quick fix. We need something that we can do to recenter and rebalance in the moment, and that's going to be our energetic first aid. And so these are things like calling on your spirit guides and your power animal If you have that in your practice visualizing yourself surrounded by the violet flame or by a white bubble of Reiki energy.
Speaker 1:This is going to be things like using clearing crystals like selenite to release things from your energy field, maybe even just running that selenite over your aura, saging or smudging using sovereignty statements. So again, that affirmation I release everything that is not mine and I reclaim my power, I am safe, I am solid, I am protected, but again knowing that those affirmations are going to have more power if you truly believe it. So this is where we also want to be doing our limiting belief work, which we'll talk about in a second. But again asking is this mine? Doing your grounding, using sound healing to break up your energy, anything that makes you feel present and powerful in the moment, anything that's going to help you reclaim your energy and release what's not yours is what we're going to call energetic first aid, and our goal with energetic hygiene is that we won't have to use energetic first aid very often.
Speaker 1:Our goal with this is that we can use some of the rituals that we'll talk about in a minute to build a practice whether it's every morning or every night or whatever that looks like for you where you're taking care of your energy the same way that you brush your teeth. You're going to have an energetic routine that's going to keep your energy healthy and flowing, so you won't need first aid as often. But we're human. We live in a really intense energetic world. There are going to be times where we need first aid, and so this is where you need to start looking at. What does that look like for you? Is it some of these tools and techniques that we've given you, or is it something else? What are the really powerful techniques that help you in the moment to come back to your center Chantel? What are some of those for you in the moment to come back to your center Chantel? What are some of those?
Speaker 2:for you. Definitely smudging, getting out into nature, sound therapy, anything like that, meditating affirmations, waking up in the morning and really setting that intention for myself no-transcript to do. That was just a nice reminder for myself, like as the wind picked up, as the birds returned and started chirping and stuff. That is the protection of ourself too. It's us connecting to that energy and knowing that when we can go outside of ourself, it's our thoughts, it's our action that we're taking right that is protecting us. But I really do like crystal selenite is my major go-to like tourmaline, anything that is going to help to bring in that protection, that expansive energy, I really do seek that out. But with just knowing within ourself that anytime we can just expand our energy through knowing this is not mine, you can actually pull yourself back. I call back all of my power. I give back what is not mine, sending it back. If you need that visual to you, know the action of doing it, do it. You know there's other ways of seeing you calling your energy back with, like collecting a flower from every situation, person that you came into contact with, building the bouquet. So there's a lot of different ways of doing it, but it's having the intention, knowing your energy is going to follow the intention that you set. So if you believe it and you trust in it and you trust in yourself to be able to shift your energy, you absolutely can Cause it's kind of like that placebo effect. Right, our mind is going to believe it If we tell it to you know, like, okay, this is going to help me and it will. Yes, it has its own frequency and it has its own action and everything. If you're using crystals and smudging and all that. But if you don't believe that it's going to clear you, it's not going to, because you're going to be stuck holding that energetic bag, the shadow work and the higher, the denser energies and everything. So, release it, let it go, trust in the process of it. And so for me, that's a lot of.
Speaker 2:What I like to do is just expanding my consciousness, being aware of it, um, giving myself permission to like to rest, giving myself permission to sit in my thoughts for a minute. You know that's also very protective, setting boundaries for myself. So anytime, if I feel like you know what, I need to just take a moment to go sit in my own thoughts. It's okay to think that we have to give to everybody or we have to sit in a situation that is not conducive to ourself. But really, sometimes we need to step out and say I'll be back in a minute or I'm going to go breathe some fresh air, and that's okay. So give yourself permission, listen to your body, your mind, your spirit. How is it speaking to you? What does it need? And then give yourself that.
Speaker 1:Absolutely and noticing in that this idea of where are you giving yourself away? Where are you giving your energy away? There's a big difference between working with spirit and being a channel or a conduit or a hollow bone for spirit to work through you, for energy to work through you and you to be present through the process, versus giving away your own energy. Giving through you and you to be present through the process versus giving away your own energy, giving away your own boundaries to other people so that they can be healed before you, so that they can be taken care of before you. There's a big difference there. One of those is really stepping into your worth and saying I'm worthy to be energetically whole and present for this other person. The other is saying this other person's well-being is more important than my own. I'm not worthy to have my own energetic wholeness, I need to give it away. And both can be true, depending on what you believe, because we're creating our own reality, and so if you believe that this other person deserves your energy more than you do, well, guess what? Your energy is going to be given away to that person. And so we want to come into this connection and this understanding that healing can happen without giving away our own energy. Being present for someone else can happen without giving away pieces of ourselves. And so asking those questions of where am I giving myself away and do I want to continue to do that? Because we have free will, choice in all of this. We get to choose where we spend our energy, where we put our awareness, how much of ourselves we give away, and if you want to continue to do that, that's absolutely fine. But if it's causing you discomfort, if it's causing you to be in a difficult situation, knowing that there's another option, there's another way of working with energy, there's another way of standing in your power and still offering that connection or that healing or that presence, or whatever it is, to the things and people around you, and with what Chantel is saying about using these affirmations and how you have to really believe it, or believing that this smudge is going to clear you, if you're having a hard time connecting to that trust, right, if you're like I've smudged myself 15 times before and it's never worked, why is it going to help now?
Speaker 1:This is where we can call in something bigger than ourselves that we do trust. So if your mind can't trust you and your intention right now, because that's a process of getting your mind on board. If we're rewiring a belief, that's a process and so, if you're having a hard time trusting it in yourself, call in source, call in a spirit guide, call in a power animal, call in another practitioner to help you with this, call in something bigger than yourself that your mind can say I might not be able to trust myself right now, but I can trust source to keep me safe, I can trust my power animal to protect me, I can trust my spirit guide to help me in this work, and that can begin the process so that one day, as you continue to do this work, as you continue to show up and say I reclaim my energy and I release what's not mine, you'll come into a space where you believe it, where you feel that power, where you feel that intention, knowing that it's okay if it's a process, it's okay if you forget sometimes. Feel that intention, knowing that it's okay if it's a process, it's okay if you forget sometimes, it's okay if you forget to do your energetic protection. Because this is part of the process and so half of it, I think, for those of us who are just starting this journey.
Speaker 1:For those of us who are really feeling like I have absolutely no idea where to even start with my energetic protection, a lot of times the first step is just remembering to do it, just remembering that you have a choice. You don't have to take on this energy. You don't have to be stuck in the aftermath of having all of this energy that's not yours flying around your energy field. We can start with that question of is this mine? Am I ready to release it and I reclaim my power and release what's not mine? And, like Chantel said, this is where knowing yourself really comes in of. Are you an affirmation person, is just declaring it with your words, that I release the energy that's not mine and reclaim what is mine?
Speaker 1:Is that going to be enough or do you need a visual? Do you need to visualize Reiki light expanding from your heart all the way out and cutting any cords or connections with the outside world so that you're whole in your energy field again? Do you need to visualize yourself standing inside a selenite tube so that you can see everyone else's energy but it can't come into your energy field? Do you need to visualize everyone in their own Reiki bubble? A lot of times I tell my students, if you think about how, when we're in a Zoom meeting and it's in gallery mode, there's all those rectangles next to each other, but there's a really thin black line between every single one, so nobody's camera is overlapping. You can visualize everyone in their own Zoom rectangle or their own energetic bubble of, again, your energy is your energy, my energy is my energy. Do you need to do a guided meditation for this?
Speaker 1:And this is where we get into those second and third kinds of energetic protection, which is our maintenance and our hygiene. And so our energetic maintenance are the things that we're doing day to day to keep up with our energy. So we have our first aid right, which we talked about calling in your spirit guide, using your affirmations, visualizing that light, setting your intention, going into nature, working with the elements these kinds of things that we do in the moment. But our energetic maintenance is what are you doing every day on a deeper level to just keep up with yourself? How are you brushing your spiritual teeth? Essentially, are you doing daily self Reiki? Are you going for a walk in nature? Are you clearing your energy and your space every day? Are you doing chakra spinning? And if you don't know what chakra spinning is, we do have a free workshop coming up on January 15th at 5 pm Mountain Time, 7 pm Eastern Time, if you're listening to this. In January we do have a free workshop to teach you how to spin and balance your chakras coming up. So we'll put the link for that below here soon and you can check it out and register.
Speaker 1:But these kinds of techniques that we're doing to balance and clear our energy field drawing the Reiki symbols on our aura, working with the elements, doing our shamanic journeys if that's in your practice, getting really clear on your boundaries and meditating on those right, visualizing your boundaries with other people or visualizing, you know, maybe it's a line around you that protects you from other people's energy, maybe it's lines around specific people, whatever it is for you. Journaling and self-reflection, these kinds of daily routines that we create so that, yeah, sometimes we're going to have to floss between our teeth because we get food stuck in there, sometimes we're going to need our energetic first aid. But if we're doing a really good job of consistently brushing our teeth, if we're doing a really good job of having a daily practice where we're visualizing our energy as whole and protected and safe and flowing. That's going to set us up for success.
Speaker 1:And this is where we then get to energetic hygiene, where we're looking at these bigger picture aspects of this of how are your limiting beliefs, how's your connection with nature and spirit? So, not just have you been outside today, but do you feel connected to nature? Do you feel connected to spirit? Do you feel connected to something bigger than yourself? How's your overall alignment with your values and your boundaries? Do you feel connected to something bigger than yourself? How's your overall alignment with your values and your boundaries? Do you know what you value in life? Are you making choices that support those values or are you making choices that go against those and, again, give away little pieces of yourself?
Speaker 1:And so you can see how this becomes like a funnel where we have our in the moment, tools and techniques that we're doing that are so important, those visualizations that you do, those affirmations that you use to feel solid in the moment. And then we have a little bit bigger part of the funnel of our day-to-day activities. Are you doing yourself Reiki? Are you doing your visualizations, are you doing your journaling and self-reflective work? And then we have the biggest piece, which is just that general foundation of how are you limiting beliefs? Are you staying connected with nature? Are you doing this bigger work in your energy field so that, when it filters down to your thoughts and your actions and your emotions, you're already solid, you're already clear? And so, looking at these three levels and really asking yourself, where do you want to start? Where do you want to start with this work? What aspect of this is calling out to you, knowing that each and every one is building on each other to get you to a place where your energy is really solid?
Speaker 2:Yeah, I love that and because it does start with us. It really does. It is that foundation of how is it funneling into your psyche, how is it funneling into your behavior, your personality, how you're showing up, and so it isn't about coming back and being upset with ourselves for any reason, but it is knowing, like my thought, is producing that outcome right. It's the cause and effect, and so when we do have that, we are having our spiritual awareness, our rituals on a daily basis, and then that then funnels down into okay, now I am trusting in myself. I'm trusting in myself because I have this process that I do every single day and as I do that, it makes me feel strong, it makes me feel aware, it gives me intention, right, and so I really do love that and getting up and hitting the floor, running with that, because we can. When we can't wake up, it takes a minute. It takes a minute for you know the body and the soul and everything to connect in the mind, to wake up and everything. So take that. It's a great opportunity to really align yourself with what your day is going to look like and setting your intention for that and working like you're talking about spinning your chakras, even if you don't know what that is yet, yes, come to the live call or the webinar for that. But just knowing you can connect with yourself, knowing you can just connect with your energy, with your thoughts, you can fill into that, bringing in that balance, the first, as soon as you wake up, bringing love into your heart, that's huge. And then you know, if there's times during the day where you feel like your mind is really open or your heart is really open, you can just close those, and that, for me, is a really good one too. And I use that a lot with clients when they're like you know, I'm feeling, and not so much from like a session or anything but say they are having these energetic attacks or these energetic experiences that are heavy on them, and I'll just say to them hey, go ahead and close your, your crown, you know. And then they'll call me back and be like that was so fast, it's like it's instant and it's like, yes, it is. Because if we're open like this all the time, our heart is open like this all the time and everything it does, we are going to be collecting a lot of energy. So just that simple action of closing them down a little bit. It's going to be a really strong protection and you can visualize it, you can put the percentage on it however you want to do it, but it really is connecting to your own energy body, knowing yourself.
Speaker 2:And when we know ourself, we do better, we feel better, we interact better, and so then no one can really come in and be plugging in on our energy lines because we're not even available for that. It's like no, you don't get to do that, we're so protected. It's just like boom, good, you know, and that's how it is. It's like being superwoman. When she does that, we're so protected. It's just like boom, good, you know, and that's how it is. It's like being superwoman. When she does that, you just see that going out. So it is having that sense of being within ourself and still knowing that we are like we are all one right, we're all connecting with each other, but we can bounce and mend and move around and shift our energy around what doesn't feel good to us. So if it doesn't give yourself permission to say that does not feel right, and I'm going to step back, because the moment you step back from somebody's energy, you will automatically already feel so much better, you know.
Speaker 2:And then like, if you um work like at hospitals or you're in any kind of medical or schools or anything like that, you know, when you leave, brush the energy off, and this can be for your regular job to go into the store or whatever. But if you feel like something is icky or heavy on you, brush it off, clap your hands, stomp your feet. These are really good techniques to help you to break up that vibration so that nothing is getting in the car with you. And if you do work in hospitals or doctor's office or anything like that, you can have sage spray in the car. You know, I'll tell nurses I work with sage the bottom of your like spray the bottom of your shoes, or have a different set of shoes and change your shoes in the car.
Speaker 2:So when you get in the car, you're not driving home in the same energy that you were working in all day. So there's a lot of things you can do. You can have crystals in your car. So as you're driving, you're creating this energetic bubble of protection, going as you transition from work to home. And then when you get home, before you even go in, you're already changing your mindset.
Speaker 2:So you walk in, you're not feeling drained from your day, you're having that energetic boost. Sit in the car for a few minutes if you need to, or go out and ground with nature. You know there's so many different ways of connecting and lifting ourself up. So it's like be creative, be really creative with what talks to you, it speaks to you, and go with that. If it brings you just a little bit of joy, that right there is going to bring you up. So it's just knowing if you have a choice, as soon as you can feel there's a lift in your happiness, your joy, your enthusiasm that right there is going to lift you Absolutely, and so, with all of this, knowing it, it doesn't have to be hard.
Speaker 1:This can be simple stuff, right. Brushing off your energy. Taking three deep breaths is enough to shift us from a stress nervous system state to a resting nervous system state. Three intentional deep breaths is all it takes. Clapping your hands or one of my favorites is washing my hands after I do a session, washing them with cold water, visualizing it, washing off, visualizing yourself in a waterfall with that water, washing away any energy that's not yours, going back into the earth like a drain, taking some deep breaths and visualizing that you're scooping up any of that like gray, spiritual dust that you've collected during the day with your inhale and then exhale, sending it out, releasing it. These things don't have to be hard, but the biggest thing is remembering to do them. Remember remembering that you are worthy to be in your own energy, you are worthy to release this stuff at the end of the day, you are worthy to step into this empowered space, and so I would encourage you to pick one or two. Don't overload yourself with trying to do 25 different tools in one week. Pick one or two, whether that's a visualization that we've mentioned today, like taking your hands over your crown chakra and gently bringing them together to close, or visualizing a dial where on one side there's 10 and on one side there's zero, and it represents your crown chakra and you're just turning it down a little bit so that it doesn't feel so energetically overwhelming. Maybe that's the visual you go with. Maybe it is brushing off physically, brushing off your body at the end of the day, to move away that energy. Maybe it's using that affirmation of I reclaim my power and I release what's not mine to the earth or to spirit.
Speaker 1:Pick one or two techniques, either things that you already know work really well for your energy, or one of the things that we've listed today in this conversation. Pick one or two and try them for a week and just notice what happens in your energy, notice the shifts. Maybe even take a journal and just journal a little bit each day. How did you feel before you did the exercise? How did you feel after going through this process of trying things, giving it a really intentional try and, again, if you're having a hard time, believing that it's going to help, lean into something bigger than yourself. Lean into Reiki energy, lean into spirit, lean into your spirit, guides, whatever it is for you to help you truly feel like I am safe and protected. I can release this, I can step into my own energy so that I don't have to be carrying this with me and just see how you feel after a week. And if, after a week, you loved one of those techniques and the other one didn't really do much, great. Now you have one tool that's going to go in your toolbox and an open space to try something else for a week and see how that goes. And if that one doesn't resonate, you try something else.
